Boarding Life

A safe, orderly and caring home away from home — where boys grow in independence, responsibility and self-discipline.

Living and learning together

Boarding at Koiwa is more than a place to sleep — it is a community where learners develop the life skills that complement the classroom: time management, cooperation, responsibility and mutual respect.

Our boarding team — the Deputy Principal (Boarding), Boarding Master, matrons, patrons and student leaders — works to keep the dormitories safe, clean, orderly and welcoming all year round.

“A successful boarding community is built on responsibility, respect and cooperation.”

Mr. Kennedy Tanui, Deputy Principal (Boarding) · Mr. Cheruyiot, Boarding Master.

Pastoral care & welfare

A welfare office, school nurse, guidance and counselling, and an active chaplaincy look after each boy's wellbeing.

Daily routine

A structured day of preps, lessons, meals, games and worship builds the discipline and rhythm that drive results.

Houses & streams

Boys belong to class streams and house units that foster belonging, healthy competition and leadership.

The school farm

Fresh from our own farm

Koiwa runs a productive school farm — a dairy unit of Friesian cattle, a rabbitry, and fodder and crop projects. It supports the boarding kitchen, teaches real agricultural skills, and models the self-reliance at the heart of our Technical and Agriculture programmes.
